College of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies
Introduction
The College of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (CNRES) was established in 1975 as the prime college in the newly established University of Juba.
The College offers a five-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree (Honors) in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies with selected specializations which include Environmental Studies, Fisheries, Forestry and Wildlife.
In the year 2011, the College was reallocated to the University of Bahri following the cession of South Sudan from the North to form an independent country.
Consequently, three of its specializations; Agricultural Science, Animal Science, and Geology and Mining were upgraded to independent colleges.

To be the leading institution in natural resources education, scientific research and community service.
Mission
The mission of the College is mainly concentrated on the delivery of broadly-based multi-disciplinary education and practical field training to improve the coexistence of man and the natural resources for a healthy and better environment.
General Objective
Preparing Innovative Natural Resources Managers
The general objective of the CNRES is to prepare innovative natural resources managers capable of approaching and directing the management of natural resources and related environments in an integrated manner towards sustainability and conservation.

The Study Program
The study program in the CNRES is designed to offer a five-year Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies.

The academic year comprises two semesters, each of which has a maximum duration of seventeen weeks, including reading week and examinations.
Major Components of the Syllabi
University Requirement Courses (UB)
These are courses studied by all students in the University. They include Arabic and English languages, Islamic Culture, Sudanese Studies and University Skills courses.
College Requirement Courses (CR)
These include courses studied by students in all departments of the College. They mainly include basic science courses such as Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
Inter-Departmental Requirement Courses (ID)
These are courses which cannot be classified as basic science courses but are studied by all or some departments.
Departmental Requirement Courses
These courses are studied by students in their specific specialization and are designed to reflect the main framework and core of the discipline.
Program Requirements
The methods of instruction for any given course in the College largely depend on the nature of the course. Generally, all or some of the following techniques are used:

Assessment of Students
Courses are assessed during and at the end of each semester. From the total marks awarded to each course, 70% shall be allocated to the final semester examinations and 30% shall be allocated to continuous assessment except in special cases approved by the Senate.
Final Examinations
Final examinations shall constitute written, practical and/or oral examinations depending on the nature of the course.
Continuous Assessment
The continuous assessment shall cover theoretical and/or practical parts of the course. This shall include a mid-term examination and at least three pieces of work that may include:
