When having a look to fisheries potential in Sudan and its vast resources and when giving a glance to the fisheries institutions that were established long ago, we can see that their contribution in this field is very little. So we have to dig further to find a way out and point to the obstacles and hindrances that stand against the development in a vital and promising sector. Such obstacles and problems make it necessary to have a curriculum that suits and deals with the present status and elevates the knowledge – know how for the students to enable them to grasp the science in this field and make them useful to their local community and the whole country.
Utilization of the recent advancements in knowledge and technology in teaching, training, conducting research and improving the academic environment to up -grade the department to the level of a school or a college.
Provision of an integral package of knowledge, that aims at studying, monitoring and understanding of the characteristics and potentialities of fishery resources in Sudan, and the methods of how to conserve and sustain them for the coming generations.
1.To equip students with knowledge and skills that enables them to boost the development in the sector of fisheries. 2.To train qualified academic cadre in teaching fishery sciences, a competent researcher and skilled professional to assist in management of fishery resources and fish farms. 3.To provide students with conceptual and methodological tools that could help them to develop an interdisciplinary understanding about the complex factors that negatively influence the effectiveness of fisheries development plans.
