A delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology led by the Minister, Prof. Yen Oral Lam visited University of Bahri. The delegation was accompanied by Prof. Bol Deng Chol the Under Secretary at the Ministry, Dr. Benyamin Gabriel Abay the Director for Training at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Michael Mishant the Academic Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Sudan; as well as other employees from the Embassy.
The Minister confirmed that the purpose of the visit was to get to know University of Bahri, its facilities and educational programs; as well as to form partnership between University of Bahri and the South Sudanese Institutions of Higher Education. Mainly, so that students from those institutions particularly in the College of Engineering and the College of Medicine could make use of the labs, workshops and other facilities used for teaching and training students at University of Bahri; they would also need academic staff to support in the teachings. He requested the administration of University of Bahri to offer special study grants and opportunities to South Sudanese students, particularly in the field of sciences.
In return, Prof. Ayoub Adam Mohammed Khalil the Vice Chancellor of University of Bahri welcomed the delegation, indicating that the visit was actually the third of its kind to University of Bahri and that the University was ready to work with all its South Sudanese accomplices in the academic field. He requested the South Sudanese institutions and colleges to re- activate the previous agreements signed. Prof Ayoub then gave an invitation to the Minister to attend the second student’s graduation carnival.
It worth mentioning that the delegation visited the campus in Alkadaro, to witness the new constructions going on and see the university farm.
