In pursuing its strategic plan on community service, University of Bahri represented by the College of Agriculture in collaboration with Bahri Locality have launched an afforestation campaign, with the participation of the local committees in South ‘Um Al Qura’.
The Dean of College of Agriculture Dr. Zainab Abdullah Yousif Abdullah mentioned that community service is one of the goals of University of Bahri, and afforestation culture comes within the main interest of the university. The project aims on preserving forestry resources, providing healthy environment, protecting green spaces and introducing new fruitful species.
Dr. Zainab said that the campaign would start from within the university to Altadamun Residential Area in Um Al Qura, considering it the nearest area and the one neighboring the university. Models from the trees were to be planted in one of the mosques, school and one of the houses in the neighborhood. She added that the project would not only stop at that point of planting, but should be followed up till trees growth; as such forms have been designed for the local communities to know the progress of afforestation.
The representative of the local committee, commended the university’s efforts in community service, expressing their readiness to take care of this vital environmental project.
The representative of Bahri Locality praised the university efforts and its initiatives in serving the surrounding community, affirming their unlimited support to the project.
