Within the context of the University’s objectives in helping community, the College of Public & Environmental Health has launched its 2^nd hygiene day that focuses on general health issues whichaffect surrounding community, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health – Khartoum State, Administration of Civil Defense, Malaria Control Department and Western Khartoum Locality. The event was attended by the Dean of Students Affairs, Dean of Nursing College, Dean of Community Studies & Rural Development, Deputy Dean of Veterinary College and a number of University’s students and staff. The campaign was started at Al-Rimaila, it included environmental sanitation, disposing garbage, spraying homes with pesticides in addition to distributing awareness brochures that aim at reinforcing hygiene awareness and to introduce healthy food diets. The programme included a number of exhibitions by the Civil Defense and the Malaria Control Department, and the college exhibition that included a section of food Safety, epidemics prevention and hygiene awareness. The programme was concluded with many students’ participations in poetry, theatre and arts.The audience alsopresented a number of valuable recommendations for human health and safety.

أقام مركز دراسات السلام والتنمية – جامعة بحري بالتعاون مع المعهد الاسكندنافي للدراسات الأفريقية بالسويد مؤتمراً تفاكرياً بقاعة إتحاد المصارف عن تداعيات الحرب الأهلية الأخيرة بجنوب السودان وآثارها على المنطقة . الجدير بالذكر أن المعهد الاسكندنافي للدراسات الافريقية قد اقترح هذا المؤتمر لا سيما وأنه يقع ضمن اهتمامات مشروع “بناء الدولة” في منطقة القرن الافريقي الذي ينفذه المعهد منذ اعوام. وقد اختار مركز دراسات السلام والتنمية بجامعة بحري لاستضافة المؤتمر الذي تقدم فيه أوراق علمية تعالج هذا الموضوع من قبل باحثين من دولة جنوب السودان وباحثين من الدول المجاورة من السودان ، أثيوبيا ويوغندا ، هذا وقد اشتمل اليوم الأول على ثلاث جلسات برئاسة كل من الدكتورة هويدا عتباني و الدكتور عمر عبد الماجد والدكتور فائز عمر. واحتوى اليوم الثاني على جلستين ترأسهما البروفسير صلاح الدومة وبروفسير محاسن حاج الصافي بالإضافة للجلسة الختامية التي تم فيها رفع التوصيات النهائية للمؤتمر.
