Master Degree on Health Education and Health Promotion

Health Education and Health Promotion Program:

1.Introduction:

Health education and health promotion program is the main program of the Department of Health Education. This program provides a foundation in public health and introduces the participants to the main methods and strategies to attain health for all and primary health care at all levels. This program also provides applicable methods oh ho to promote health and develop communities in the rare and absent of resources. Health promotion and care system in the community and its environment are examined to determine how they impact

3. Mission: We bring about sustainable, positive changes in health by providing an outstanding program of research, teaching and community services to translate research into effective parches and sound polices
4. Value of MHE:

The Master of the Health education and health promotion has a responsibility to use knowledge and skills and high ethical standards to prepare students to serve as ethically, culturally, and scientifically competent Health education practitioners and academicians.

5.Objective:

o  To educate students in public health competences with an accredited curriculum

o  To provide student, with community oriented, education and practices opportunities

o  To generate public health knowledge emphasizing urban, community engaged and translated research

o  To assess the health status at the national, state, county, and community levels using appropriate health indicators and data sources.

o  To analyze problems and current issues related to health and health care in the community and rural areas and derive potential solutions

o  To participate in public health advocacy, policy and practice at local, national and international level

6.Intended Learning Outcome

At the end of the program, the candidates will be able to:

1.     Apply health education methods effectively

2.     Demonstrate knowledge in all health fields.

3.     To plan for health education activities and programs.

4.     To conduct health activities.

8. Academic System:

1.     Name of program: Master degree in Health Education and Health Promotions

2.     Qualifying year 18 hours (not included in credit hours of MSc.)

3.     MSc. By courses:

–         Four semesters (17 weeks each including examination and reading week)

–         Two semesters courses each semester 17 weeks, with 18 credits hours each semester

–         Two semesters for dissertation.

4.      By research: At least 18 months

M.Sc. 46 hours, four semesters.

9. Teaching & Learning Strategy:

This will be experienced through:

Theoretical classes, practical, tutorials, seminars, assignments, group discussions, personal communication.

10. Students Evaluation

The performance of the candidates will be evaluated through:

a)        Continuous assessments through assignments, reports, seminars and quizzes,

b)       Theoretical, practical and oral examinations

c)        External examiners
