The department of Library & Information Sciences is regarded as one of the original departments of the College of Community Studies & Rural Development and it has various contributions to the post graduate programs as well as to the advancement of the University Libraries.
To produce a developing curriculum that can enable the student to acquire the recent knowledge and skills in the management of libraries and information centers, besides the skills of disseminating knowledge by the use of the modern media.
Development of human capacities in order to satisfy the technical professional needs of the libraries and information centers.
Amis & Objectives
- To enable the learners to identify the basic fundamentals of Library & Information Sciences.
- To enable the learners to acquire the technical skills and the capacities, necessary for the information management.
- To provide the learners with the knowledge of the modern skills for developing the management of Library Information Institutions.
Academic Degree offered by the Department
The department offers general four years degree of B.Sc as well as a five year honor degree.
Method of Study
Adoption of amended semester system with final exams in the courses taught in each semester. The final results shall be calculated in accordance with the results obtained in the end of second semester examination held in that particular year.
Strategies of the learning Program
It is as same at the strategies followed by the university to achieve the emblem of the quality and excellence which aims to realize excellence and high quality of academic standard.
Methods of evaluation
Evaluation is based on the general guides and regulation of the University of Bahri i.e. 40 % for practice and annual assignments, 60 % for the final exams.
