Professor Ahmed Al Bashir Mohammed Al Hassan, Secretary of the National Fund for Students Welfare confirmed their efforts to lend accommodations for the university’s students in a place that is close to the faculties complex in Al Kadaroo.
Al Hassan, when addressing the joint meeting with the university’s administration, has committed to prepare the rest of Erdogan halls of residence for female students in Al Kadaroo within a period of maximum two months to shelter 200 female students as a rapid solution.
On the other hand, Prof. Babikir M. Mahjoub explained that the basic purpose of the meeting is summarized in exchanging thoughts to find a solution for the crisis of students’ accommodation, which has been aggravated after the implications of the Corona pandemic.
In the same context, Dr Tarig Sir Al Khatim, Dean of Students’ Affairs at the university, said that most of the university students come from remote states and that 80% of them come from Darfur states, indicating that the accommodation crisis in his opinion is represented in the need to accommodate 18 thousand student and that the cost of private accommodation in Al Kadaroo has increased up to 5 times due to the economic circumstances that the country encounters.
The two parties have agreed to find additional vessels to admit this number through knocking at the state’s door as well as the Ministers Council and the Sovereignty Council in order to conclude to a radical solution for this problem in coordination with the concerned bodies. In the long term, the fund was delighted with constructing joint halls of residents from the two parts inside the campus and the surrounding area.
