Meteorology is the study of globe climate and the changes that form weather conditions; i.e. temperature, visibility and atmospheric pressure. University, represented in students of both college of applied & industrial sciences, college of natural resources & environmental studies and Sudanese meteorological society, has celebrated international day of meteorology.
The celebration was attended by the general secretary of Sudanese Meteorological Society; Dr. Hassan Mohammed Hassan, academic affairs secretary of the society & professor of climatology at Omdurman Islamic University; Dr. Elias Mansour Ahmed, head department of physics, electronics and meteorology-College of Applied and Industrial Sciences; Dr. Ammar Al Siding Ali and meteorology experts: Sayid Durman and Ismail Fadl Almawla. The celebration included words of students’ representative, president of the society and the vice chancellor speech; delivered by the director of cultural & information administration; Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Adam on behalf of him. Three lectures holding the title: “Drenching Theory” have been presented within the inauguration of an exposition by PhD student; Kamal Adin Al awad. Meanwhile, Dr.Hassan Mohammed Hassan presented a lecture under the title: “Climate Change”, student Tumadur Ali has also presented a rehearsing episode of weather forecasting.
Attended people have discussed Quran’s verses: “you have been given butlittle of knowledge”and “He, the Almighty God, knows what people do and knows the number of every little thing”. In these verses the Almighty God talks about Knowledge, as professors and students of statistics might consider last verse as a material evidence of the importance of Statistics. At the same time, meteorology students can also use it as another evidence in their field of study and for all other domains.
In our traditional and simple lifestyle, weather forecasting is always associated with it. Autumn and winter for instance are divided into periods. People even name their daughters after these periods. They also use natural phenomena as birthdays. Nowadays, meteorology revolves around everything. It affects humans, plants and animals in both states of war and peace. Weather forecasting is also part of it where it defines weather conditions, what to grow and when it rains. These weather conditions also regularizeflights and set successful air strikes in wars.
Since meteorology is considered as an ancient science, introduced by Aristotle in his book: “Meteorology”, it’s now been quickly developed. This is clearly represented in the multi-purposes observation stations that carry out measurements of temperature, humidity, winds, visibility, clouds, rain and evaporation
