Graduate Studies programs in Distance learning
Unless a special clause as set forth below, the provisions of these regulations shall be applied on the distance learning program.
Distance learning follows the annual system (twelve months) and does not require a full-time release or the presence of the student at the university or attending lectures as a condition for the entry of exams.
Prescribed period to obtain a post graduate diploma shall be one-year according to the annual system (i.e. twelve months).
Prescribed period to obtain a master shall be one-year according to the annual system (i.e. twelve months).
Students from inside and outside Sudan shall be admitted and from all nationalities provided that the applicant attend personally to the headquarters of the university or one of its centers designated for that purpose and performing procedures of the Admission and Registration.
Students may apply for admission, registration and examinations in distance learning centers established by the University in different states.
Students may apply for admission, registration and examinations in distance learning centers established by the university outside Sudan in accordance with the regulation of distance higher education outside Sudan for the year 2007.
Concerned departments shall provide compulsory intensive session for all students for a period of two weeks or more at the University or in its centers, as appropriate. Those who absented themselves for any reason shall not be allowed to sit for the examinations unless after submitting a request to the department during the session explaining the causes of the absence.
The intensive session may be cancelled temporarily in a department is wholly or partially upon the recommendation of the concerned college and the approval of the Senate.
Basic exams are held each year at the end of the year followed by substitute and supplementary exams once a year.
A student who failed to get the specified qualification through distance learning for academic reasons or for force majeure accepted by the University shall re-register after the approval of the department in writing.
It is permissible to accept transfer of a regular student of post graduate diploma or master programs at the same program or any similar program after the approval of the relevant department in writing.
It is permissible to freeze enrollment of students in any program if the number of applicants is less than the minimum required for the implementation of the specific program.
